Who is Jesus?
Your answer to this question will determine if you spend eternity with Jesus or spend eternitry in hell. This is the most important question of your life, you will need to get this question right before you die. There is only one correct answer to this question.
Who is the Lord? Is there more than one Lord? Is Jesus the Lord? Is Jesus the only true God?
Let's take a look at what the Bible says:
Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Zechariah 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be ONE LORD, and his NAME ONE.
Mark 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The LORD our GOD is ONE LORD
John 1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of the LORD, as said the prophet Esaias.
1 Kings 8:60 That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD IS GOD, and that there is none else.
Mark 10:51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
Luke 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, MY LORD AND MY GOD.
John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
According to the scriptures there is only one LORD, back when Jesus was on the earth you didn't call anybody LORD except for GOD. That is why the scribes and pharisees called Jesus a blasphemer. They knew that if Jesus was LORD then he must be GOD. But they couldn't see how he was God. They thought he was a man making himself God.
The first of all commandments as the scripture says is above is " The Lord our God is one Lord". When you call Jesus Lord you need to believe that HE is the only God. Thomas called Jesus his Lord and his God. Let's take a look at some other scriptures:
Luke 8:39 Return to thine house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.
Matthew 18:26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Matthew 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
Mark 5:6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him
John 9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
In the first scripture above Jesus told the man that the devils were cast out of, " to go and show what great things God had done for him" , he went and told what great things Jesus had done for him. He was convinced that Jesus was God. In another scripture above, Jesus said that you should worship God and him only, but Jesus let people worship him. If he wasn't God, he would not have let people worship him. Again, you don't worship anything less than God. Let's look at some other scriptures.
Isaiah 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God BESIDE me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me
Isaiah 45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is NONE besides me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.
Isaiah 44:24 Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that speadeth abroad the earth by myself.
Hebrews 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds
Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.
Acts 4:24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that in them is
John 4:24 God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
John 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father
Genesis 32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen GOD face to face, and my life is preserved.
God all through Isaiah said that there was none beside him, he didn't say "besides", he said "beside", signifying a position, there is no one on either side of God, there will be one throne, and one sitting on that throne. It also says that He stretched forth the Heavens alone, God's hands did that, but then in Hebrews it said that God made the worlds by Jesus. Then John says that no man has seen God but in Genesis Jacob said he had seen God face to face. Are these scriptures contradictory? Not at all, what you have to realize is that God is a spirit, you can't see a spirit unless it takes on a form. God was a cloud, he was a rock, he was a burning bush, he was in the form of a man when he wrestled with Jacob. So Jacob did see God's form but then God came in the ultimate form, his own birthed fleshly body. He was God in Christ reconciling the world unto himself.
2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
What is the name of God? Let's take a look at what the sciptures say:
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 8:16 For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they that were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
John 5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
John 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
Luke 1:31 And behold , thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son and shalt call his name JESUS.
Isaiah 52:6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.
Jesus told his disciples to go and baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Was Peter wrong when he baptized in the name of Jesus? No, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not names, Peter just knew what the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost was and that name was Jesus. Jesus told them that he had come in his Father's name. His name was secret, it was not revealed until the angel spoke it to Mary. That is why when Moses asked God when he was in the burning bush what shall I say when they ask " What is his name ", God told him to say "I AM THAT I AM".
Exodus 3:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto to you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them?
Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
God has always had a name but it was not revealed until he came in the flesh, that is why Jehovah is not mentioned at all in the New Testament. In the Old Testament it is mentioned a number of times referring to God but now He has a name and that name is Jesus. Because when you want to call on God, you have to call on the name of Jesus.
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
How important is it to know that Jesus is God? How important is it to know God's name? Let's see what the Bible says:
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
John 8:27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.
2 Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord
2 Peter 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
As you can see in the above scriptures, unless you believe Jesus is God you will die in your sins. It is very important to have the knowledge of Jesus; to have knowledge means to know who he is. Below are some other scriptures where Jesus was telling his disciples who he was.
John 8:19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
John 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
John 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
In these scriptures Philip wanted Jesus to show them the Father (God); Jesus told Philip that "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father". Remember the scripture that said no man hath ever seen God at any time; Jesus is the image of the invisible God.
Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
If you can believe with all your heart that Jesus is the only TRUE GOD, then you can receive the Holy Ghost and be saved. Without the Holy Ghost you can't be saved. Let's look at some scriptures that can back this up:
John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Jesus said that you must be born again of the Spirit (Holy Ghost), but the reason why most people can't receive the Holy Ghost is because they don't know who Jesus really is, he is more than just the Son of God. The flesh was the Son of God, but the Spirit inside that body was God. You will never see God again in the form of a burning bush, a cloud, or as a rock. After Jesus came out of hell, then the Spirit went back into that body to never be separated again. You will never see Jesus in any other form again. He is the KING OF KINGS and the LORD OF LORDS. Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD. You can do it now and live with him in eternity, or do it when you die, then have to spend eternity in hell. The decision is yours. JESUS IS GOD!!!!!!
